Unlike most programs, the Miami Hurricanes returned to the practice field Tuesday – three days after its spring game – for their 13th practice of the spring.
In a game that was largely dominated by the defense, early enrollee freshman wide receiver Brian Hightower flashed his big-play potential and caught a pair of touchdown passes as Team Soffer defeated Team Carol 17-0 Saturday night in the University of Miami’s spring football game at Hard Rock Stadium in front an estimated crowd of 15,875 fans.
Increasing competition is probably what drove University of Miami head coach Mark Richt’s decision to implement a point system during spring practice – something that he said Tuesday has revved up the level of competition as the Hurricanes completed their seventh spring practice.
And while they weren’t suiting up for a game, many of the Canes players relished the opportunity to get back to work as the team opened its spring practice Tuesday morning on the Greentree Practice Fields.
