Shortly after the news hit that receiver Jeff Thomas was backing off his decision to leave Miami and is coming back to Coral Gables, the Hurricanes landed a commitment from Ohio State transfer quarterback Tate Martell early Wednesday morning.
The Hurricanes (1-1) were far and away the superior team compared to the FCS-level Tigers, and they treated the announced crowd of 60,307 fans at Hard Rock Stadium to an 11-touchdown night and their first win of 2018 – snapping a four-game losing streak since the 2017 season.
The coaching staff had a couple of days to break down the game tape and was able to provide more marinated perspective Tuesday as the Hurricanes returned to the Greentree Practice Fields for their 10th spring practice session.
And while they weren’t suiting up for a game, many of the Canes players relished the opportunity to get back to work as the team opened its spring practice Tuesday morning on the Greentree Practice Fields.
The University of Miami announced its spring football practice schedule Monday.
The school announced late Monday that quarterback Evan Shirreffs has decided to leave the program.
