Dade Rallies, Takes Down Broward 17-8 In Dolphins Dade-Broward All-Star Game

Miami Jackson quarterback T.J. Craig threw a touchdown pass and ran for another in the second half to lead the Miami-Dade County All-Stars’ rally as the team from the 305 took down the Broward County All-Stars 17-8 Friday night in the Seventh Annual Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Star game at Western High School.

Craig put the Dade All-Stars up 10-8 when he found an opening in the Broward County defensive front on the goal line and plunged across the goal and he helped them extend that lead when he found Southwest Miami senior running back Te’Cory Tutson with a short pass over the middle – which Tutson turned into a 29-yard touchdown.

The Generals quarterback earned the game’s offensive MVP honor – finishing 6 of 11 for 116 passing yards to go along with his two second-half scores.

Miami Jackson cornerback Keyshawn Paul earned the defensive MVP award, recording an interception and a handful of tackles while covering some of the best wide receivers Broward County had to offer.

Dade All-Stars head coach Tim Neal, the new head coach at Miami Killian was hoarse after the game but said that the overall level of talent on the rosters showed what’s great about both counties and what’s great about what the Dolphins do with the event.

Miami Palmetto running back Trey Flowers rushed for a game-high 59 yards on eight attempts while Miami High’s Lamont Finnie had three receptions for a team-high 56 yards. Also, Coral Gables kicker Sebastian Riella was perfect Friday night – nailing both his extra points and knocking through a short field goal in the first quarter.

Things went extremely well for the Broward County All-Stars early on.

Miramar’s physical receiver Dominick Watt made the biggest play of the night early just two minutes into the game when he caught a short screen pass and rumbled down the field – spinning away from a pair of defenders and knocking over another on his way to a 59-yard touchdown.

After that, the 954 team had a tough time finding the end zone.

Broward All-Stars head coach Adam Ratkevich said that it was special for the Dolphins Youth Academy to elect to host the game at Western High, where he led the Wildcats to a Cinderella playoff run to the region 3-8A final, but he also had one small gripe.

Davie Nova running back and FIU signee Shaun Peterson ran for a team-high 35 yards on six attempts; South Plantation’s Dawson Hill added 28 rushing yards; while Western quarterback Harrison Story threw for 144 yards but completed just three of his nine passes.
